Bartec Benke is a global expert in safe working in hazardous areas. The collaboration began in 2019 with the requirement to combine an LTE antenna with a long cable length.
The customer application requires a long cable length of around 7 metres, which can lead to relatively high signal losses, particularly in the higher frequency range. The task was therefore to find a cable with low loss values and install it in the antenna. An Aircell5 cable was used in one of our antennas for the first time.
This type of cable was previously only used as an adapter or extension cable. The components are generally designed for use with a cable diameter of around 3 mm, whereas the Aircell5 has a diameter of 5 mm, meaning that some components had to be adapted to ultimately fulfil customer requirements.
The Bartec systems are used on tankers. The end customers use the antenna to transmit all data to and from their tankers. In South Africa and neighbouring countries alone, over 2,000 tanker trucks are equipped with a REEL antenna.
